In 1965, Gordon Moore predicted the doubling of components on an integrated circuit every 18 months. From careful observation of an emerging trend, Moore extrapolated that computing would dramatically increase in power, and decrease in relative cost, at an exponential pace. This observation concisely describes the technological transformation of the past 50 years.
With the creation of the fellowship, we plan to encourage breakthroughs that accelerate progress for the next 50 years.

Our goal is to partner with their host institutions to invest in these young inventor scientists and their inventions, to allow awardees to focus on their inventions, creating the scientific and technological revolutions of the future.
